I’ve got to think that Kevin Pritchard is just floating this rumor out there to get a reaction, most likely from the Utah Jazz. He certainly seemed to encourage the rumor when he gave an interview to a local Portland newspaper, referring to it as a “toxic contract” so as to make it difficult for the Utah Jazz to match.
The fact that they telegraphed this move before actually tying up their money by doing it makes me thing that it isn’t really going to happen.
As we all know, Kevin Pritchard did this once before, telling everyone that the Portland Trailblazers would sue any team who signed Darius Miles. When a team did, it didn’t lead to much.
I think Pritchard is full of hot air again.
Of course, it’s doubtful that the Blazers can really make it toxic enough that Utah couldn’t or wouldn’t match.
