C.J. Miles to receive offer sheet from Oklahoma City

Filed under: CJ Miles — Jazz Fan @ 10:25 am

The Oklahoma City Thunder, as they are rumored to be called, will sign C.J. Miles to an offer sheet of 4 years and $15 million.

Good for C.J. He gets both money and a nice number of years.

The Jazz, of course, should not even think of matching.

Miles didn’t get much playing time anyway for Jerry Sloan. He probably could have, had he come into camp in shape last year. Instead, he languished at the end of the bench.

Miles contract also doesn’t make financial sense to the Jazz. The Jazz just signed Deron Williams to a monstrous contract that kicks in next summer. They still have Kirilenko under contract. Boozer and Okur can opt out next year, and will likely demand more money to stay (even though both of them really like playing for the Jazz). That doesn’t even count Paul Millsap, who Larry H. Miller really wants to keep in a Jazz uniform. Signing a 10th or 11th man to $4 million per year for four years makes absolutely no sense.

So to C.J. Miles we say, Good Luck. Hope you get more time playing for a loser with some good young talent. You weren’t likely to get any more in a Jazz uniform than you got last year.
