Most of us saw this one coming.
Andrei Kirilenko has posted a blog on his website asking for a trade from the Utah Jazz and suggesting that he has already talking with the Jazz brass in private about that very thing.
Kirilenko has a contract that still runs for several years, so it isn’t likely that management will have to get rid of him quickly (as they might have had to do if he was in the final year of his contract or had a player exception at the end of this year).
Since the Utah Jazz hold all of the leverage in these negotiations, it isn’t likely that AK47 will get what he wants unless a team is willing to offer the Jazz a good deal. And the Jazz have already been listening to offers after Kirilenko’s whining during the playoffs may have hurt the Jazz’s chances at winning a title. At least, that’s the way Deron Williams made it sound when he chastised some of his teammates for not doing their part (and many people knew he was mostly talking about Kirilenko).
I know most Jazz fans are ready to just cut bait and allow Paul Millsap to fill the void at small forward, but the Jazz really ought to wait until a good deal comes through.
A disgruntled AK-47 is still better than most of the other players out there.
